About Us

The Medina Mariners Association is a registered charity with a mission to protect and preserve the amenities and environment of its area of benefit, the Medina Estuary. This is for the recreational use of the general public. In addition, it is to provide or to facilitate the provision of facilities for the inhabitants of the Isle of Wight for recreation and leisure time occupation.

The Association therefore has a particular interest in serving the interests of the ordinary family river user and berth holders alike. To help achieve this we provide storage facilities for dinghies and equipment, a scrubbing berth and a haul out facility, and organise regular dinghy racing and cruising rallies and associated social activities. In certain circumstances, we will provide financial support to other bodies or individuals in support of our mission. We also act as a pressure group to try and protect the estuary from over-exploitation for commercial purposes that affects the activities of walkers, cyclists, nature lovers and river uses alike.

A Committee of trustees, elected annually by its members, manages the Association. Please click here for details of the current Committee.

For membership details, please go to the Membership page, whilst if you are interested in how the Association developed from its origins, please go to the Background page. Details of the Association’s mission can be viewed on the Charitable Objectives page. Other details on the Association’s activities can be viewed in the various menu pages of this web site.
